Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is renowned among hikers for its unique trail that leads to the foothills of the Annapurna South. It's an ideal trek for those who enjoy exploring the flora and fauna while comfortably taking in the panoramic view of the Himalayan range, which includes the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, and other Himalayan ranges. These ranges are arranged almost precisely in a circle that spans about 10 miles in diameter, with a deep glacier-covered amphitheater at its center. As we move further south, the gorge widens into a fertile valley that is home to the Gurungs.
The middle and upper portions of Modi Khola offer some of the best short trekking routes in Nepal, and the valley is strategically located so that these treks can be easily combined with treks into the Kali Gandaki region to the west. This classic walk takes us right into the heart of the mountains, and our gentle walk starts from the lowland, gradually ascending to the outstanding high mountains with breathtaking views of the Annapurna range.
Trekking begins in the terraced foothills close to Pokhara, where the Ghorepani-Chumrung-Dhampus Ridge gives us a good panoramic view of the mountains. As we pass through local farming communities, the vista becomes more impressive. The trek ends at a point where you are virtually surrounded by soaring Himalayan peaks. This trek provides an excellent opportunity to experience the fascinating glimpse of rich culture, typical Nepalese lifestyle, and the ultimate thrill of trekking in the Himalayas at a high elevation.
